These days I am taking a retreat in my own home after a period of high-energy activities (like the last 6 months or so!). It’s important to remember to visit the other end of the spectrum and not always be in doing mode. Sometimes our intuition gets buried in the noise of our lives and we have to take some quiet time to unearth it and reconnect with it again.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be a long period of time or be expensive or hard. But, the time spent recharging your inner battery is well worth it so that you can go out into the world connected to that inner wise voice.
Here’s how to reconnect with your intuition in 4 different ways.
- Go on a retreat
- Talk less, listen more – to others and yourself
- Avoid loud noise and sounds – create a spa-like atmosphere in your home
Going on a retreat can be expensive but it doesn’t have to be. You can hole up in your home, unplug the internet (gasp!) and your phone for a day or two. Or borrow/rent a cottage somewhere. If you have money to spend a short spa retreat is never amiss – I can still recall the one I took 7 years ago and find that wonderful inner peace that implanted itself into my body during those two days by the sea.
Talking less, listening more is the most obvious way to go about re-establishing your connection to your intuition. And using angel cards or tarot cards when you tune into your inner silence is an easy way to gain insight and maybe even give you an aha-moment or two. When we talk we are not silent enough to hear our own inner guidance, unless we’re really experienced meditation masters, and even listening more to what other people say may unearth nuggets of angel wisdom that was meant for you.
Avoiding loud noises and sounds and creating a spa-like home environment with wonderful calm music (my favourite internet radio is the many channels by Calm Radio) calms your nervous system and when you relax you have access to your Higher Self. In a noisy world, most of us can benefit from creating a little oasis in our home – even if we only have 30 minutes in the morning or evening to do so.
Meditation is the grand master when you need to find your way back to your inner wisdom. As I wrote about here you don’t need to sit for hours a day to get quiet with yourself and you are more than allowed to use music and guided meditations to calm your body and mind. Or even space out to the wonderful nature movies on Netflix by Louie Schwartzberg.
I hope these 4 ways of re-connecting with your inner GPS has sparked an idea in you? Do you have a good way to connect with your inner guidance you’d like to share? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
